Ichthus Youth runs a variety of activities throughout the year for young people aged 11-18

In 2009/2010, we ran three Big Weekend mini missions, one Youth Day and are now looking forward to our trip to the Soul Survivor summer youth conference. Details of the Big Weekend are below. See the column to the right for more on Soul Survivor.

Big Weekends

Do you want to learn more about the Bible?

Do you want to go deeper in your faith?

Do you want to grow in evangelism?

Do you want to become more like Jesus?

Big Weekends are mini weekend-long missions. They involve Bible studies, teaching, prayer, worship, evangelism, and fun, social and recreational stuff. For the last three years we have been running the Big Weekends for youth across Ichthus who are serious about living for and growing in Jesus. This year we are running three more of these amazing discipleship experiences, with some new ideas in mind.

Who are the Big Weekends for?

The missions are for young people aged 11-18 who want to go deeper in their faith, learn more about the Bible, grow in evangelism and become more like Jesus. Our hope is that young people from Ichthus congregations and Ichthus Link churches will have the opportunity to put their faith into action, make friends with other Christians the same age and experience more of Jesus, which will develop character and long term fruit in their lives.

A typical Big Weekend looks like this:

      Friday

      Saturday

      Sunday

  • Arrive and register
  • Evening meal together
  • Getting to know each other (ice breakers, etc.)
  • Intro to the mission and location

  • Worship and devotions
  • Teaching session
  • Prep for evangelism – learning dramas, dances, songs, etc.
  • Evangelism
  • Fun socialising – film night, bowling, games night, quiz, etc.

  • Tidying up
  • Preparing for the service
  • Sharing testimonies and helping in the service
  • Lunch
  • Home time

The missions are always great fun and even if a young person is the only one coming from their church, people are really friendly and they will soon make friends. Also, if they have never done anything like this before and feel a bit nervous then they mustn’t worry as there will be others in the same position and there are always plenty of friendly leaders around to answer any questions.

Soul Survivor 2010

We're really excited this year to be offering the youth in Ichthus the opportunity to come with us to Soul Survivor, a fantastic Christian youth festival in the summer. We will be traveling, camping and eating together as well as enjoying the fantastic programme Soul Survivor has to offer. For more information about the festival, see the Soul Survivor website.

We will be going to Soul Survivor B, which runs from 11-15 August. The cost of Soul Survivor is £135, which includes transport to Somerset, food for the five days and admission to the festival. We will let you know how to apply soon.
