Radical Network is a one year training course aimed at mentoring Spirit-filled, radical leaders into Christian service and ministry.

The original Network training programme, established in 1982 by Ichthus Christian Fellowship was relaunched in September 2000 as Radical Network. The course is full time*, running from the beginning of September until the end of July. Radical Network aims to mentor people personally, and so there is flexibility within the course to meet the needs of the individual.

*It may sometimes be possible for indiviuals to work part time in conjunction with the RadNet programme.

The Radical Network course comprises the following:

Engagement

in the general life of Ichthus Christian Fellowship
in hosting monthly Ichthus-wide celebrations together with the Training Team
with effective Christian ministries in the Ichthus scene
at the level of in-depth study of particular situations with a view to performing an audit - for example in church planting, social action projects, Ichthus Link organisations, administration etc.

Mentoring

In addition to general, leadership and theological mentoring from Ichthus leaders in group situations, each RadNet will have a:

'Patch' Mentor - to oversee the practical aspects and effectiveness of their work in church life and their outreach into the local community
Personal Mentor - concerned with their general well-being and personal development and growth
Specialist Mentor - an opportunity to further develop those who feel God's calling into a specific ministry. Specialist mentoring might cover worship, pastoral and prayer ministry, evangelism or children's work, for example

Theological Education

Pursuing a planned course of theological and Biblical study through lectures and discussion groups
The chance to assimilate the material studied in the context of church life and the Ichthus Bible School
Attendance at the Ichthus Bible School
Preparation and presentation of personal study in two theological papers given by each student during the year

Experience

We are committed to the principle of learning while/by doing. In addition to all the normal opportunities created by being part of Ichthus, a RadNet will experience:

'Patch' work with a local congregation where the student will take some form of leadership responsibility for the year
Serving in all areas of church life
UK and overseas missions team opportunities (costs for overseas trips not included in the fees)
Opportunities for each student to use their particluar gifts and ministries
Serving at conferences and special events hosted by Ichthus
Accompanying mentors on ministry trips
Leading evangelism teams on the Summer Project

Who should apply?

Applicants should be over 21 years of age and have some experience of Christian service and leadership in their congregations, college group or similar setting. They should also have a working knowledge of the Bible and a willingness to be stretched theologically and experientially. In addition Radical Networkers will need a level of Christian commitment and maturity that will help them to cope with pressures, both practical and spiritual, and enable them to engage in the spiritual disciplines of prayer, evangelism and study. Our aim is that the course will prepare them to be breakthrough people in church planting, church growth and Christian discipleship.

The course will run from the first week of September until the last week of July, with two week breaks at Christmas and Easter.

Non-residential: £1400
Residential: £3800
