Radical Christian living: good News for London

Impacting London with lasting change requires a consistent and determined approach to mission at grass roots level. That’s why at Ichthus, we’re rallying those who share our vision of city mission and will commit to bringing the good news of Jesus to the capital.

We’re looking for people to be Christ’s love to London’s communities, moving into neighbourhoods across the city and living as tentmaker missionaries within hubs based around our local churches. We’re calling them to join Kingdom Life.

Kingdom Life is a discipleship course and a way of living. It’s a lifestyle of radical Christianity, for people who are serious about deepening their life in God and intentional about mission in London. Our aim is to help develop and mentor Spirit-filled, radical believers into fruitful disciples.

The Mission Field On Your Doorstep

We assign each Kingdom Lifer on the course to an Ichthus congregation. They move into the heart of the local area and, as a part of a kingdom-focused movement of churches, find opportunities to get hands on in city mission. We also provide training and theological input, tailored to tentmaker missionaries.

The course costs no money, but requires a commitment of energy, enthusiasm and time. Kingdom Lifers commit to a minimum of two years onw the course so they must be dedicated followers of Jesus, recognising God’s call on their lives and willing to serve Him in London for that period of time. They have to find their own employment and must be willing to live sacrificially, with purpose and love. Applicants must be at least 20 years old.

Every day, Kingdom living

Kingdom Life is a discipleship course from Ichthus Christian Fellowship. It’s for anyone with a strong desire to see the lost saved and discipled to Jesus, and a willingness to serve their local church and community.

The course places tentmaker missionaries in Ichthus churches, where they pray for and support the life of the congregation, as well as serving the local community. They take part in Sunday morning services, midweek homegroups and weekly outreach, as well as coming to monthly Ichthus events like Celebrations, Bible Schools and Prayer Days. They can attend our conferences and may get involved in events at Ichthus Link churches around the UK. Once a month, all our Kingdom Lifers gather together for worship, prayer and a meal.

Missional Training for missional people

Kingdom Life is fueled and inspired by the radical theology of Roger and Faith Forster. At fortnightly training sessions, which are specific to tentmaker missionaries, we cover subjects like

  • Time/stress management - avoiding burnout
  • Personality and gifting - understanding your strengths and weaknesses
  • Using money for the Kingdom
  • Workplace evangelism
  • Christian ethics in a secular society
  • Discipleship disciplines

During their first year, each Kingdom Lifer submits two papers: one on evangelism and one on discipleship.
